Our aim is to explore many different aspects of Family History, including different methods of research, different methods of record-keeping, and different focus interests. While a laptop and signing up to a subscription website such as Ancestry or FindMyPast would be useful, it is not essential. Ledbury Library subscribes to Ancestry UK, and there are other ways to find information.

Our meetings are very lively and enthusiastic, and usually we cover two topics either side of a coffee break. Most of us are happy to talk about a subject of particular interest to them, and this always generates much discussion. Recent talks given by members include 'The Lives of my Canal Ancestors', 'My Ancestors involvement in the Rag Trade', and about the discovery of a diary written by a family member while he had been a prisoner of war. Occasionally, we welcome a visitor to present a subject. We often return to how we each collate our research, and we discuss any difficulties and challenges in our research.

Some of us are involved with Masefield Matters, which is a project run by Ledbury Town Council in preparation for the celebration of John Masefield's 150th anniversary in 2028. Also, some of us will be visiting the Family History Show at Malvern Three Counties Show Ground on 14th March.

It's important to note that the leader is not a tutor, so it's expected that the group will work collaboratively. We are each at different levels of expertise - so we welcome both experienced family historians and beginners.
